Atlanta looked good in their first road test of the season in Miami.

The Atlanta Hawks went into American Airlines Arena for their first true road test of the season Tuesday night, and came out on top over the Miami Heat, winning 98-92. Thabo Sefolosha was inactive for this game, as he continues to ease into things early in the season, nursing his ankle injury.

The Hawks and Heat were neck and neck in the first quarter. Kent Bazemore led the Hawks in scoring in the first quarter with 8 points on 3-of-4 shooting, with two 3-pointers. Goran Dragic and Hassan Whiteside were running the show for the Heat, as Dragic had 7 points, with Whiteside adding 6 points and 3 rebounds.

The second quarter was a great one for the Hawks. Atlanta went on a 12-0 run to start the quarter, with the Heat not scoring a basket until there was 7:16 left in the quarter, a Hassan Whiteside basket assisted by Dwyane Wade. Mike Scott and Justin Holiday both had good quarters, and were key in the Hawks run, where they were able to get a 41-26 lead with just under 7 minutes remaining in the half.

With just under a minute left in the half, Paul Millsap was driving down the lane, and was brought down hard by Dwyane Wade. While it was initially ruled a normal foul, the referees reviewed the play, and gave Wade a flagrant 1. Millsap was visibly shaken up from the contact, and was limping, but remained in the game and appeared to be alright. The Hawks would close out the quarter up 51-40.

Jeff Teague got the Hawks off to a good start in the third, with 7 points through 3:34 in the quarter, putting the Hawks up 62-47. The Hawks continued to struggle the most with Hassan Whiteside, who finished with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 blocks through three quarters of play. Whiteside's effect wasn't great enough to help close the gap, as the Hawks went into the fourth up 79-65.

The Miami Heat would make it a game in the fourth quarter, with a 10-0 run to pull the game within four points at 79-75. Justin Holiday would end the run with a 3-pointer, making his first appearance since the second quarter. The Heat continued to carry momentum, but Paul Millsap helped bring that to a halt when the Hawks were up 85-80, and he had a driving basket that drew a foul, but he missed the free throw.

The next possession, Kent Bazemore pressured Goran Dragic into a turnover, that led to a Hawks basket after Hassan Whiteside was called for goaltending on a Paul Millsap shot in the paint, making it 89-80 Hawks with under four minutes remaining. Miami kept delivering blows that were answered by the Hawks, who came out with a 98-92 victory.

The Hawks will look to make it five straight wins Wednesday night against the Brooklyn Nets in Philips Arena.

The Hawks swept the Heat in the regular season last year, can they keep it up Tuesday night?

The Atlanta Hawks will start off the second week of the NBA season against the Miami Heat on the road. The Heat are 2-1 on the young season, with wins over the Charlotte Hornets and the Houston Rockets, with their one loss against the Cavaliers in Cleveland.

Atlanta is seeking their fourth straight win, after coming off of a close game on the road in Charlotte on Sunday afternoon. The Hawks will be without Thabo Sefolosha, who will be resting his ankle, a trend we can expect to see for most of the season. Mike Muscala is questionable with a right ankle sprain that he suffered in the season opener against Detroit.

Miami has the best frontcourts the Hawks have seen all season in Chris Bosh and Hassan Whiteside, and will put up quite a challenge for the Hawks bigs. Bosh and Whiteside are averaging 15.7 and 13.3 points apiece. The duo combines for 17.7 rebounds per game as well. The impact of the offseason acquisition of Tiago Splitter will really be on display in this game in terms of seeing the relief he can provide for the Hawks' starters.

Guard play will also be another interesting aspect in this one, with the Heat's Goran Dragic and a healthy Dwyane Wade leading the way for Miami. Wade is leading the Heat in scoring with 21.7 points per game. The Hawks rotation has been somewhat scattered throughout the season, and to see how they handle it Tuesday night will be something to watch for.

Thabo Sefolosha will sit out Tuesday's game against the Miami Heat.

The Atlanta Hawks updated their injury report on Monday and listed Thabo Sefolosha as out for Tuesday's game against the Miami Heat. Sefolosha is still not fully 100 percent and the team has opted to take things slowly in regards to his health. Tuesday's game begins a stretch of four games in five nights for Atlanta.

Mike Muscala is listed as questionable for Tuesday's game as he continues to recover from an ankle injury that he suffered in the opener against the Detroit Pistons. Muscala was back in uniform for Sunday's win in Charlotte but did not make an appearance in the game. Mike Scott has seen the bulk of minutes behind Paul Millsap with Muscala sidelined.

Atlanta lists Kyle Korver and Jeff Teague as probable against the Heat. Korver is still recovering from offseason ankle surgery and could be a candidate to sit out the second game of the back-to-back on Wednesday. Teague suffered what the Hawks are calling a finger sprain during Sunday's win in Charlotte. Teague played 32 minutes against the Hornets and finished with 18 points but went in for X-Rays following the game. Those came back negative and he appears to be good to go for what will be a busy week for the Hawks.
