Sefolosha's case is coming to a conclusion, as the case has gone to jury.

Thabo Sefolosha's case is nearing a conclusion in New York. The Atlanta Hawks' swingman took the witness stand in Manhattan on Wednesday. Sefolosha pled not guilty to misdemeanor charges of obstructing governmental administration, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest back in April of this year outside of a New York nightclub.

Per the New York Times:

"He said, ‘That's it, you're going to jail,' " Mr. Sefolosha, a guard-forward with the Atlanta Hawks, said as he testified in his own defense. Other officers grabbed his arms, he said, and he felt one kick him hard in the right leg. Then he went down to the pavement. "I didn't even have a chance to put my hands behind my back," he said.

An earlier stabbing had reportedly prompted police to clear the area that Sefolosha and then teammate Pero Antic were in. Antic was reportedly in an Uber when Sefolosha spotted a panhandler that he had seen as he was going into the club, and attempted to give the man $20, but was stopped by police from doing so.

After that occurred, Sefolosha was allegedly then pushed by police, as he tried putting his money back in his pocket, and kicked to the ground. Pero Antic corroborated most of Sefolosha's story. Coach Mike Budenholzer also took the stand as the final defense witness Thursday, defending Sefolosha's character.

The case went to the jury a little after 4 p.m. EDT, and was sent home shortly before 5 p.m., they will return at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, per Chris Vivalmore of the AJC.

Former Atlanta Hawks center Pero Antic speaks with the AJC on his arrest and treatment by the NYPD from last April.

Pero Antic had all of the charges against him from last April dismissed earlier this month and finally spoke about the incident in an email interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

In the interview, Antic says that "no one should have the right to arrest you for nothing" and that "no one has the right to put your career in danger."

Antic and teammate Thabo Sefolosha were involved in an incident at a New York nightclub on April 8. Sefolosha suffered season-ending injuries and later said those injuries were caused by officers from the New York Police Department.

When asked whether he felt vindicated or not after having his charges dismissed, Antic replied:

"I feel and I don’t feel at the same time. I’m happy that justice was done and people can finally see that what happened that night wasn’t our fault. I’ll just try to forget that and concentrate on the future and better things in life."

He had stern words when asked about how he was treated by police:

"Not good to be honest. I know that they have the power and everything but at the end of the day we are all humans and we all have rights. Nobody has the right to hit you or even put your career in danger. But not all policeman are like that. I truly believe in that. But those few individuals are making the big difference of what and how people think about the police."

Antic went on to say that he felt mistreated, but that he whole situation didn't play a part in his decision to return to Europe for this season. He said that he was happy that the incident was behind him and that he hoped that it would soon be over for Sefolosha as well. Be sure to give the full interview a read as Antic also talks about his time in Atlanta along with a comment from Mike Budenholzer saying that the Hawks wanted him to stay.

Thabo Sefolosha was due back in court on Wednesday.

Thabo Sefolosha and Pero Antic were due back in a New York courtroom on Wednesday for their part in a late night incident involving New York police at a night club in early April. Sefolosha and Antic were both in a nightclub where then Pacers forward Chris Copeland was stabbed. As police arrived and tried to get control of the scene, Sefolosha and Antic were involved in a scuffle with police and were arrested and charged with multiple violations. Sefolosha suffered season ending injuries to his leg which he claims were a result of the NYPD.

Sefolosha's trial date is scheduled to begin on October 5 according to ESPNNewYork's Ian Begley. That date coincides with training camp which is set to begin around October 1.

The charges against Antic were dropped on Wednesday. Antic agreed to a two-year deal with Fenerbahce this summer and will be returning to Europe after spending the past two seasons with the Hawks.

-Update-

Danny Knobler reports for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Sefolosha turned down a deal agreement that would have offered him only a conditional dismissal.

Sefolosha was offered only an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal (ACD), asking him to perform a day of community service and agreeing to dismiss and seal the file in six months as long as he avoided further trouble. Sefolosha declined that offer in favor of either a complete dismissal or a trial before a jury.

Following the controversial incident in New York, the court date has been set for Thabo Sefolosha and Pero Antic.

The 2014-2015 season is over for the Atlanta Hawks, but one of the bigger story lines from the stretch run will reemerge next week. According to a report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Thabo Sefolosha and Pero Antic will appear in court in New York on Tuesday, June 16 at 9:00 am ET to face charges stemming from the controversial nightclub incident in early April.

Sefolosha, who missed the remainder of the season after suffering a broken fibula in the custody of the NYPD, will face counts of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, while Antic has been charged with harassment and disorderly conduct in his own right. The well-publicized incident took place outside of the 1OAK night club on April 8, and video of the arrest can be seen here.

Both players have been reluctant to expand on the incident in great detail pending a potential trial, though both have expressed their innocence of the charges. Antic enters the offseason as a restricted free agent, while Sefolosha (who is recovering from surgery) will begin the second season of a multi-year contract in 2015-2016.

Stay tuned throughout the process for updates in this space.

Thabo Sefolosha issued a statement on Tuesday in regards to his arrest and subsequent injury at a New York nightclub.

Thabo Sefolosha met with the media on Tuesday and talked about last week's arrest and subsequent injury at a New York nightclub. Sefolosha fielded questions from the media but was unable to answer specifically regarding how he suffered the injury. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has a detailed account of the Q&A session.

Sefolosha issued a statement where he expressed gratitude for the support he has received from his family and his teammates along with that of the organization. He also added that he was currently in great pain and that his injury was caused by the police.

Here is Sefolosha's complete statement:

"I would like to begin by expressing my gratitude to my family and friends, the Hawks organization and my teammates. This has been a difficult time for me and I truly appreciate the support I have received from everyone. I am extremely disappointed that I will not be able to join my teammates on the court during the playoffs and apologize to them for any distraction this incident has caused. I will be cheering for them every step of the way and will be diligent in my rehabilitation.

On advice of counsel, I hope you can appreciate that I cannot discuss the facts of the case. Those questions will be answered by my attorney in a court of law. I will simply say that I am in great pain, have experienced a significant injury and that the injury was caused by the police."

A second video of the Thabo Sefolosha arrest has surfaced, and it could be controversial.

On Thursday afternoon, video surfaced that showed two members of the Atlanta Hawks, Thabo Sefolosha and Pero Antic, being placed under arrest by members of the NYPD outside of a nightclub. Now, a second video has come to light, and it could be very controversial with regard to Sefolosha and his season-ending leg injury.

The video, courtesy of TMZ sports, appears to show an NYPD officer swinging a baton in Sefolosha's direction, and with the still unknown circumstances of his injury, some will undoubtedly draw conclusions that this contact could have caused the issue. Beyond that, several officers are jockeying with Sefolosha in the video, and his arm seems to be pulled in an awkward direction.

In this case, we will let you draw your own conclusions and simply provide the information as it becomes available. There have been many words penned on this circumstance, but with the organization and both players choosing the "mum's the word" approach based on the pending legal matter, material such as this is all that we can draw opinions from at this time.

Stay tuned.

Pero Antic made a few comments about the incident in New York.

While some of the attention shifted to Thabo Sefolosha individually in the aftermath of his season-ending injury, there were two members of the Atlanta Hawks who were placed under arrest in New York earlier in the week. On Friday, Hawks center Pero Antic made a few comments concerning the incident, per Chris Vivlamore of the AJC.

In addition to Antic's statement above, Vivlamore also indicates that the Macedonian center apologized to his teammates and added that "the video speaks for itself" with regard to what took place. The video referenced by Antic can be seen here, and as a result of the injury sustained by Sefolosha, there has been a great deal of attention paid to this particular piece of evidence.

There is no update on whether Pero Antic will play in Friday's game against the Hornets at this time, but given that he returned to the team for shootaround, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him suit up against Charlotte.
