Atlanta Hawks point guard Jeff Teague will return to the lineup on Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Clippers, but Dennis Schröder will get the start at point guard.

In an interesting twist, there won't be a change to the Atlanta Hawks starting lineup on Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Clippers. After being upgraded to probable earlier in the day, Jeff Teague will be active and available for the Hawks against the Clippers, but head coach Mike Budenholzer indicated pregame that Dennis Schröder will get the start at point guard.

When asked if this was a permanent change, Budenholzer simply said "no", indicating that this could be a one-night switch as Teague comes back from a hamstring injury, but needless to say, this is quite intriguing. Budenholzer also indicated that the coaching staff debated whether Teague should return on Tuesday, given that the Hawks have two additional days off before hosting Milwaukee, but bringing his normal starting point guard off the bench was the final choice.

Dennis Schröder has been highly effective in place of Teague over the past three games, averaging more than 13 points and 7 assists per game, and seeing him on the floor with the starters while Teague operates in a reserve role could be something to monitor in itself. Regardless, the 21-year-old has made significant strides this season, and that undoubtedly makes this decision easier for Budenholzer.

Elsewhere, Pero Antic remains questionable with an ankle injury, and he will test the issue in pregame before a final distinction is made. However, Budenholzer said that it was "bothering" him after Antic sustained the injury in Monday's win over the Dallas Mavericks, and it certainly would not be a surprise to see the Hawks remain cautious by keeping him on the sideline.

The Atlanta Hawks will likely get Jeff Teague back from injury on Tuesday night, but the team could be without another rotational piece.

The Atlanta Hawks have been doing fantastic work in recent days, and for the past three games, that positive effort has come with starting point guard Jeff Teague on the sideline. However, it appears that Teague will return from a hamstring strain on Tuesday evening, as the team lists him as "probable" on the Pregame injury report.

Unfortunately for the Hawks, there is a possibility that the roster could still be operating at less than full strength, with the same report listing Pero Antic as "questionable", due to an ankle sprain. The return of Teague is certainly encouraging, although the team has performed quite well under the leadership of Dennis Schröder and Shelvin Mack in recent days. Teague is Atlanta's leading scorer at 16.8 points per game for the season, and the point guard also paces the team in assists at 7.0 per contest.

The absence of Antic could be crucial if he is unable to go, as the Clippers boast a roving rim protector in DeAndre Jordan. Antic's ability to stretch the floor could be useful in getting Jordan to vacate the paint, and if he cannot play, Mike Budenholzer could turn to some combination of Elton Brand and Mike Muscala in his place.

Stay tuned.

There initially was some hope that Teague would be able to return to action on Monday. SportSouth's Andre Aldridge reported on Saturday that Teague was hopeful that he would be able to play against the Mavericks. With Atlanta back at home on Tuesday against the Clippers and then off until Friday, it would be a bit foolish to rush Teague back. If he was able to return to action against the Clippers he would get a couple of days off to recover before playing again on Friday.

Dennis Schröder will make his thirst straight start at the point for the Hawks while Shelvin Mack will get the back up minutes off the bench. There will be a lot of pressure on the backcourt as they try to slow down Dallas' new look backcourt featuring Rajon Rondo and Monta Ellis.

This news doesn't come as a surprise after the Hawks listed him as doubtful to play in the game on Friday. Dennis Schröder will make his second straight start in place of Teague and Atlanta will also lean heavily on Shelvin Mack. Both had great games in Wednesday's big win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Schröder logged a double-double with 10 points and 10 assists while Mack came off the bench to score a career-high 24 points.

Teague is enjoying a career-best season averaging 16.8 points and 7.0 assists. He is shooting 47 percent from the floor and 37 percent from three-point range. The Hawks aren't likely to rush Teague back from the injury as hamstring injuries can linger and cause bigger problems if not fully healed.

Teague sat out Wednesday's big win over the Cavaliers, but there was hope that the time off would be enough to get him healthy. Dennis Schroder got the start in place of Teague in Cleveland and finished with 10 points and 10 assists while Shelvin Mack came off the bench to score a career-high 24 points. There was hope that the time off following Wednesday's game would be enough to get Teague healthy but that doesn't appear to be the case.

Hamstrings can be tricky injuries and the Hawks are wise to play it safe with Teague who is having a career-best year to start the season. Currently Teague leads the Hawks in scoring at 16.8 points and assists at 7.0. He is shooting 47 percent from the field and has upped his three-point percentage to 37 percent.

The Atlanta Hawks could be without Jeff Teague on Wednesday night, as he reportedly is battling a hamstring strain.

The Atlanta Hawks have a tough test on the road on Wednesday evening, as they face off with a multi-talented Cleveland Cavaliers team. Unfortunately for Mike Budenholzer and his team, they may be short-handed when the game tips off, as Jeff Teague could reportedly miss the game as a result of a hamstring strain.

Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution brings word that Teague is doubtful to play in the game, and speculation is rampant that Teague suffered the hamstring strain during Monday's win over Chicago. At this point, there isn't a great deal of detail to share, but at any rate, Atlanta being without Teague would be impactful, especially in the area of offensive creation.

Dennis Schröder and Shelvin Mack would be in line for additional playing time in the absence of Teague, with Schröder expected to get the start and Mack set to return to action after a two-game absence.
