Mack flails to the ground as he tries to draw a foul off Brandon Knight and gets warned.

Shelvin Mack has been given a warning from the NBA for his flop against the Bucks on Saturday. Mack was defending Brandon Knight, whose outstretched arm caused Mack to fall to the floor. Here's a video of the incident:

That flaily right arm does seem pretty an over the top attempt at drawing the foul. Luckily, it's Mack's first warning, so no real harm. The next one would come with a $5,000 fine.

For the final 42 minutes, everything seemed to go right for the Atlanta Hawks in one of their biggest blowout wins of the 2013-2014 season.

With 6:10 remaining in the 1st quarter on Saturday night, the Atlanta Hawks were visibly struggling. They were trailing 14-10, shooting just 4-for-13 from the floor, and generally performing like a sluggish team in the early stages of the second game of a back-to-back set. Then, the wheels began to churn in a positive direction. The final 6+ minutes of the quarter saw the Hawks outscore the Bucks by a 21-11 margin, and from there, the energy (copyright, Larry Drew) was lively on the visiting sideline.

As you can see by the final margin of victory, that momentum didn't cease there, and in all honesty, the best basketball played from the Hawks on Saturday night came in the two middle quarters. It was an incredibly balanced effort in the second quarter for the team, as they entered the break with a 15-point lead on the strength of eight different players scoring 4+ points prior to the half. Lou Williams scored 10 of his 18 in the half, providing that offensive spark off the bench that he was basically destined to fulfill, and when the Hawks can force 13 turnovers by an overwhelmed opposition and commit only 2 themselves, it's nearly academic.

By the time the team sprinted to a 13-2 run to start the second half (giving them a 73-47 lead), the game was firmly in hand, and that was a welcomed surprise. There are nights in the NBA when a team simply needs to "take care of business" against an underwhelming opponent, and this was the definition of that. It seemed as if head coach Mike Budenholzer recognized that quite early, speaking candidly following Friday night's loss about "moving forward", and he echoed a similar sentiment after being asked about what impressed him most (via NBA.com).

"Just the way we bounced back. I think this is a tough leage and we didn't play well last night. Our group didn't hang their heads and they moved forward. That's what we talked about. We want to move forward."

Although there is a case to be made that Coach Bud sounds like a broken record, the effectiveness of the message is undeniable, and the team responded in a big way here. Shooting 53% from the field and 50% on 26 attempts from three-point distance isn't always a given, but with the way that the Hawks took apart Milwaukee's defense for the better part of 48 minutes, it almost wouldn't have mattered if they shot the ball well.

There were several unsung heroes (in addition to Paul Millsap, who was fantastic), ranging from Elton Brand, who utilized his semi-automatic jump shot from 12 feet, to DeMarre Carroll, who battled through questionable injury status to have one of his better games of the season, but it's a very good problem to have too many guys to recognize. The offense is always clicking when the ball is moving, and it was certainly doing that to the tune of 26 assists on 40 field goals. That gives life to every member of the team when they step on the floor, and with the entire movement toward a "next man up" principle in the wake of the mounting injury count, that is huge.

Things don't get easier for the Hawks as they travel to Oklahoma City to take on the scorching-hot Kevin Durant, but while some may brush off this 26-point win as simply "beating the Bucks", it resounds as yet another example of the positive culture change in the Atlanta locker room.

Heading into Saturday night's clash with the Milwaukee Bucks, expectations weren't flying high for the Atlanta Hawks, but even after a rough start, the Hawks were able to generate a 112-87 blowout victory.

Milwaukee competed valiantly for the better part of a quarter, even holding a 14-10 lead early, but from there, the floodgates opened. Atlanta grabbed the lead with a 12-2 run that was capped by a Kyle Korver 4-point play, and from there, the Hawks would never relinquish the advantage.

It was an incredibly solid across-the-board effort for the Hawks (as you would imagine), and that was evident in the box score. Paul Millsap was the best player in the building on Saturday night, finishing with 20 points (on 8-of-14 shooting despite a slow start), 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals to lead the way in just 29 minutes. In support of Paul, Atlanta placed 6 players in double-digits in the scoring column, with Lou Williams (18 points, 5 assists in 24 minutes), Elton Brand (10 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks), and Kyle Korver (12 points, including 3-for-4 from three in extending his NBA record to 112 straight games) combining to produce some substantial numbers.

DeMarre Carroll was a late addition to the lineup for the Hawks, but he showed no signs of struggling with his troublesome hamstring. Carroll was flying around from the opening tip, and if anything, it was an overly productive night for the veteran swingman with 12 points (including 3-for-3 from beyond the arc) and 6 rebounds, to go along with 4 assists and high-end defensive effort.

For good measure, several members of the extended bench saw big-time minutes in the game. Dennis Schroder, who famously entered the game while wearing the wrong shorts, played 17 minutes and 4 points and 2 assists, with James Nunnally seeing time for the second straight game with 3 points and 3 rebounds in 11 minutes. Lastly, the recently re-called Jared Cunningham scored his first points as a member of the Hawks (joining all 11 healthy members of the team in the scoring column), and he saw time in 8 minutes down the stretch

As a team, the Hawks shot a blistering 53% from the field (and 50% from 3-point land) in the game, and when a team can convert at that type of rate, a win is very likely to follow. Still, the defensive end of the floor was equally important, and the final turnover margin (19-13) allowed for several extra opportunities to convert opportunities into points.

It isn't often that the Hawks (or any other NBA team) can pencil in a win by the middle of the 3rd quarter, but with the injury bug reigning over Atlanta in recent days, this was a much-needed infusion of positivity and excitement.

I guarantee you he'll never wear the wrong thing again.

A few minutes ago, Twitter was abuzz when Dennis Schröder was quickly benched during the Hawks game against the Bucks.
After initially being ruled out for both the San Antonio and Milwaukee tilts, Carroll was somewhat surprisingly listed as a "game-time decision". However, after going through warm-ups, the Hawks decided that deploying DeMarre in this particular game was safe despite his ongoing hamstring troubles.

Carroll's inclusion on the perimeter alongside Kyle Korver and Shelvin Mack is huge for many reasons. He has been, by far, the best perimeter defender on the roster this season, and in addition to that simple equation, Carroll's availability is enormous from a depth perspective. Without him, Mike Budenholzer would have been shorthanded in a major way, but depending on how his hamstring responds, Carroll will give him an ultra-reliable option, at least at the start of the game.

The Atlanta Hawks originally announced that forward DeMarre Carroll wouldn't play on Saturday against the Bucks but he is now listed as a game-time decision by the team.

The Atlanta Hawks limp into Milwaukee on Saturday night but could get a key player back a little earlier than was originally thought. Forward DeMarre Carroll suffered a hamstring strain in Wednesday's win in Orlando. He sat out Friday's loss to the Spurs and was originally declared out for Saturday's contest at Milwaukee.

An injury update issued by the team on Saturday now declares Carroll as a game-time decision against the Bucks. The Hawks will be without Jeff Teague and Pero Antic in addition to John Jenkins and Al Horford. If Carroll was able to give them some minutes it would be a definite shot in the arm.

Carroll will likely test out his hamstring prior to the game to see how he feels. He originally told the AJC after the Orlando game that the injury wasn't serious. Tests revealed a strained hamstring and he sat out against the Spurs. Expect Atlanta to play it safe with Carroll but if he feels good to go Atlanta can use whatever minutes he can provide.
