Kobe Bryant was upset with the way that Dahntay Jones defended him on Bryant's game tying attempt that left him with an injured ankle.

I'm not going to give this much time or effort because frankly it doesn't deserve it. Had the shoe been on the other foot and that been Dahntay Jones missing a final seconds attempt with Kobe Bryant playing tight defense it would have been categorized as great defense. No if it was a Hawks player that was left with an ankle injury it wouldn't have registered as a blip on the NBA's radar.

So a clearly disgusted Kobe complained loudly following the game and then took to Twitter to air his frustrations.

#dangerousplay that should have been called. Period.

— Kobe Bryant (@kobebryant) March 14, 2013

Bryant went so far to say that he would have to wait a year to get revenge on Jones. Yeah I'm sure the league will have a fine ready for that soundbite but I won't be holding my breath waiting.

Jones also took to Twitter to defend himself and the final play:

Tape doesn't lie. Ankle was turned on the floor after the leg kick out that knocked him off balance. I would never try to hurt the man

— Dahntay (@dahntay1) March 14, 2013

So first off you hate to see a player get hurt anytime particularly when it is a good player like Kobe Bryant but what is Jones supposed to do on that final play? Is he not supposed to play defense? Is he supposed to stick his hand up and not leave the floor. Kobe didn't land on Jones' foot so what is all the fuss about? It certainly wasn't a Bruce Bowen-Vince Carter situation. What would Kobe have done in that situation?

The fact of the matter is this. If you are the Lakers then it should have never came down to that situation. A Lakers team that has everything to play for shouldn't be down two points to a depleted Hawks team that is missing two starters. Yet there they were and now all the focus will be placed on that final play. Not how Atlanta outplayed the Lakers for four quarters and how it took a superhuman performance from Kobe Bryant to keep them in the game.

Bryant was mad after the game and yes he had to spout his venom somewhere. He should have looked at the players in his own locker room.

Oh yeah one more thing:

Bad Play for DJ. Walked into KB on the shot.

— Bruce Bowen (@Bowen12) March 14, 2013

If this statement isn't ironic then I don't know what is.

The Atlanta Hawks came into Wednesday's matchup with the Lakers battered and beaten but mustered up enough energy to escape with a much needed 96-92 win. Not many people were giving the Hawks who had lost three straight and six of their last seven a chance coming in. That number shrank significantly when it was announced that Atlanta would be without not only Jeff Teague but also Josh Smith due to injury.

The Hawks had every reason to hang their heads in this one and go out there with the mindset to get it over with and get ready for Phoenix on Friday. They instead went out onto the court and played loose for the first time in a couple of weeks. A few made baskets and they found a rhythm. Next thing you know ball and player movement picked up and their defense along with it. Before you know it the Hawks had a 55-43 lead at halftime.

Still the Lakers had reason to feel good. Kobe Bryant started the game 1-8 and had just three points at halftime. Dwight Howard spent part of the first half on the bench after picking up two early fouls. True to form, Bryant came out smoking in the third scoring 20 of his game-high 31 points in the quarter.

Antawn Jamison gave Los Angeles its first lead at 72-71 since the opening moments of the game with a three pointer with 1:25 remaining in the 3rd. Shelvin Mack quickly answered with a three and Ivan Johnson converted two free throws to close out the quarter and give the Hawks a 76-74 lead heading to the fourth.

The Lakers got off to a good start in the fourth. Nash tied things up with a bucket and then Johnson drove to the basket for Atlanta and appeared to get fouled by Howard but no call was coming. The Lakers pushed the ball up and Steve Blake knocked down a three for a 79-76 lead and forced an Atlanta timeout. Larry Drew was whistled for a technical foul for arguing on Johnson's behalf and Nash sank the free throw to extend the Lakers' lead to 80-76.

However, the Hawks wouldn't fold. John Jenkins hit a three and Devin Harris put the Hawks back in front 81-80 with a runner in the lane. Harris scored nine of his team-high 17 in the fourth to help the Hawks grab the lead back.

Bryant refused to let the Lakers go away easily and his three with 18 seconds left pulled L.A. to within one at 93-92. Kyle Korver would make one of two at the line and give the Lakers and Bryant one last chance. Bryant drove baseline on Atlanta's Dahntay Jones who contested. The shot was no good and Bryant was injured on the play as he and Jones got tangled up as they landed. Korver sealed the win for the Hawks at the free throw line.

Without Teague and Smith, the Hawks needed a team effort and they got one. Six different players scored in double figures led by Harris' 17 points and seven assists. Kyle Korver finished with 15 points while Al Horford added 14 points, 14 rebounds and four assists. Ivan Johnson added 12 points and eight rebounds off the bench while John Jenkins also finished with 12 and provided some good fourth quarter defense on Kobe Bryant.

Bryant needed 33 shot attempts to score his 31 points. Metta World Peace added 20 while Steve Nash finished with 11 and seven. Dwight Howard added 10 points and 16 rebounds but foul trouble limited his aggressiveness on defense in the second half.

This may have been the feel good win of the season for the Hawks who hardly looked competitive in the second half of Tuesday's loss to Miami. They will enjoy an off day on Thursday to heal up before hosting the Phoenix Suns on Friday.

The Atlanta Hawks have lost six of seven and will try to get back in the win column Wednesday night when they take on Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Fresh off of a 98-81 loss to the Miami Heat, the Atlanta Hawks return home to face a Los Angeles Lakers team that could be playing their best basketball of the season. Things aren't going to get any easier for the Hawks who have lost three in a row, six of seven and could be without Jeff Teague on Wednesday night.

Teague rolled an ankle in the third quarter of Tuesday's loss in Miami and is listed as questionable. Following the game he said he wasn't sure if he would be able to play on Wednesday and would see how the ankle felt on Wednesday morning. If Teague can't play it would be a critical blow to the Hawks who are already short of depth at the point guard position.

The Lakers have won four straight and have climbed back into the playoff picture in the Western Conference. After struggling for most of the season they seem to have found their way since the All-Star break. Dwight Howard is also playing much better and recorded a season high 39 points on Tuesday in his first return to Orlando since being traded to Los Angeles.

Atlanta suffered a 99-98 loss in the first meeting with the Lakers as Kobe Bryant scored 34 points including the go ahead bucket.

Jeff Teague is currently listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers due to an ankle injury.

Atlanta Hawks point guard Jeff Teague suffered an ankle injury during the third quarter of Tuesday's loss to the Miami Heat. Although the team said he was probable to return, he did not get back into the game after the Heat pulled away in the final period. He is currently listed as questionable for Wednesday's home game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Teague told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution after the game that he was unsure if he would be able to play on Wednesday and that they would have to see how he felt before the game.

Teague finished with 12 points and four assists in the loss to Miami. He is averaging 14.5 points and 7.0 assist per game on the season. If he were to miss any time it would be a big blow to a Hawks team that has lost six of seven and is currently sinking in the Eastern Conference Standings.

Devin Harris would be the likely starter for the Hawks if Teague couldn't play. Shelvin Mack would be the only other point guard on the roster so he could be thrust into action in a back up role.

Teague's status will be updated at some point closer to tonight's tip off.
