The Atlanta Hawks used a sideline out of bounds play to perfection to take the lead in the final moments of Wednesday's 93-92 win over the Toronto Raptors.

The Atlanta Hawks have been one of the best teams in the league at scoring out of timeouts this season and Wednesday's 93-92 win over the Toronto Raptors is another example. With Atlanta trailing 92-91 the Hawks took a time with 27 seconds remaining and here is a closer look at the winning play.

In this alignment Jeff Teague (1) and positioned on the ball side block. Kyle Korver (3) takes the ball out of bounds while Al Horford (5) and Josh Smith (4) position themselves at the elbows. DeShawn Stevenson balances the floor on the opposite side wing.

Teague uses a screen from Smith to get open and receives the ball out front. This action sets the play in motion. DeShawn Stevenson cuts off of Horford and flashes into the lane. He will eventually fill out to the opposite corner where he spots up.

Stevenson clears out to the corner and Korver begins his cut. Kyle rubs off of Smith and around Horford and cuts down to the opposite block. After rubbing Korver's man, Smith steps out and receives the pass from Teague.

After passing to Smith, Teague cuts off of him and fills out to the wing. Smith dribbles across the top of the key while Korver finishes his cut. Horford follows Korver to the block and sets a downscreen. Here the Hawks have options depending on how Toronto plays it.

As the play unfolds, Aaron Gray sees Horford's screen and steps over the top to cut down the passing angle to Korver. Horford recognizes this and slips it sliding right to the basket where Smith finds him for the dunk. If Gray stays home on the play then the pass goes to Korver coming of Horford's screen. No doubt Larry Drew expected the Raptors to show hard given that it was Korver coming off the screen and he took advantage of their aggressive defense.

Following the game both Josh Smith dubbed the play as the Hawks' fourth-and-one play:

"It was a good play," Josh said. "They were hedging out on Kyle all night long, which is respectable because he can knock down that jump shot, and the play was just ran to perfection, Al set the screen, slipped it hard, I gutted it and thread it down the middle for the dunk...I do, I do love it. That's our fourth-and-one play."

Al Horford added that it was a play that the Hawks work on a lot:

"Yeah, it was a good play that we have and we work on it," said Al. "You gotta give credit to Coach Drew cause he's the one who drew it up and we just go out and execute it. Really, just credit to coach. He really spends a lot of time running through these ATO (after timeout) plays and I think we're probably one of the better teams in the league at doing them. We're executing them and they work for us."

Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey criticized the game officials for missed calls down the stretch in his team's loss to the Atlanta Hawks.

We joked about it in the post-game Google Hangout but the Hawks may have in fact got away with a late foul on Toronto's final shot attempt in Wednesday's 93-92 win over the Raptors. Following the game, Raptors head coach Dwane Casey sounded off on the officiating for repeated missed calls at the end of games:

"I'm tired of losing games because of missed calls at the end of games. I know the league is going to come down on me, but I don't care," said a seething Casey, smoke practically billowing out of his ears.

"These guys have fought their hearts out, played their hearts out and at the end of the game, we get cracked, (league sends out an) apology, go back to Canada. I've been in this league 18 years and I've never seen so many missed calls at the end of the game to cost us the game. We've got great officials in this league, and too good to miss calls and short-change young men like this. It's not right. I watched the replay three or four times, hoping that they (somehow made the right call) but they didn't," he said. "This is fourth time this year that we've been in this situation."

Following the game, Josh Smith and Al Horford were both asked about the final play following the game:

Josh Smith:

"Yeah it was [crazy]. You know, played some pretty good defense, DeRozan lost the ball, Kyle kinda grabbed it, fumbled it a little bit. The ball came out to Anderson, [I] contested it and after that... [chuckles] I don't know what happened."

Al Horford:

"Everything just happened really fast. My first instinct was to block the shot and then the ball just kinda hung around so I just grabbed the rebound and saw there was one second on the clock and threw it out."

The Atlanta Hawks fell behind early but came all the way back to defeat the Toronto Raptors 93-92.

The Atlanta Hawks rally late and steal one at hom defeating the Toronto Raptors 93-92 Wednesday night at Philips Arena. The Hawks struggled out of the gate, rallied in the third quarter and still needed a go-ahead bucket from Al Horford in the game's final moments to pull out a victory.

To steal one of Larry Drew's favorite phrases, the Hawks came out with zero energy and it nearly cost them an embarrassing loss to a severely undermanned team. Toronto learned just prior to tip off that they were involved in a three-team trade that sent Jose Calderon to the Pistons and Ed Davis to the Grizzlies in exchange for Rudy Gay. That left the Raptors with nine healthy bodies to go up against the Hawks.

The Hawks came out sluggish and trailed 23-20 after one. The Raptors extended the lead with an 18-8 run to close the half with a 55-45 advantage. Toronto outworked Atlanta on the glass all night running up a 52-36 rebounding advantage.

Atlanta climbed back into the game in the third quarter outscoring the Raptors 30-14 to take a 75-69 lead into the fourth. However, the Raptors wouldn't go away and battled back in front. The Hawks went ahead for good when they scored on a familiar high/low play out of a time out where Josh Smith found a wide open Al Horford for a dunk that put Atlanta up 93-92 with just over 20 seconds remaining. The Raptors got three looks at the basket late with the Hawks unable to secure the rebound and got away with what looked like a foul on DeMar DeRozan's final attempt.

Horford led the Hawks with 22 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Horford hit 10-15 shots including the go ahead bucket on their final possession. Josh Smith added 20 points and 11 rebounds while Kyle Korver chipped in 17. Korver went 5-9 from three-point range and extended his consecutive games streak with a made three to 39.

Toronto was led by DeRozan's 23 points. John Lucas III scored 19 off the bench and Alan Anderson chipped in 15 points. Kyle Lowry returned from injury and finished with 14.

The Atlanta Hawks look for their fourth win in the last five games Wednesday night when they take on the Toronto Raptors for the first time this season.

The Atlanta Hawks emerge from two days off on Wednesday to take on the Toronto Raptors at Philips Arena. The Hawks saw their three game winning streak snapped on Sunday with a 106-104 loss to the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Toronto comes in having lost seven of nine and struggling with injuries.

The Hawks are no stranger to injuries either but could be inching closer to getting healthy. Anthony Morrow returned to full contact practice on Monday and could play on Wednesday for the first time in 17 games. Morrow originally suffered a hip injury and that later developed into back soreness. Neither Al Horford nor Zaza Pachulia practiced on Tuesday but both are expected to play in Wednesday's game.

Toronto will be without Linas Kleiza, Andrea Bargnani and Jonas Valanciunas. Point guard Kyle Lowry is expected to be a game-time decision with back spasms.

This is the first of three matchups between the two teams this season. Atlanta has dominated the series of late winning 11 of the last 13.
