Larry Drew said before Monday's game that Anthony Morrow and Devin Harris were both out until at least Saturday when the team returned home from its road trip

Anthony Morrow and Devin Harris will have their statuses updated on Saturday when the Hawks return from their three-game road trip. Morrow missed his second straight game on Monday with a strained hip that he suffered in Friday's win in Cleveland. Harris missed his seventh straight contest with a foot injury.

"We won't know how long [they will be out] until we get back [to Atlanta]," Drew said. "We're still just treating both guys."

Their absence has given rookie John Jenkins the opportunity to get into Drew's rotation. Jenkins scored 10 points in just under 17 minutes of action in Saturday's win over the Indiana Pacers. He set a career-high in minutes played on Monday with 24 and also set a career mark with 15 points on 6-9 shooting. With Jeff Teague and Lou Williams starting, Jenkins was the first guard off the bench on Monday.

Harris has played in 20 games this season and made 10 starts. He is averaging 7.7 points and 2.5 assists per game in about 23 minutes per game. Morrow has appeared in 22 games and is averaging 5.5 points on 44 percent shooting.

Atlanta's road trip continues in New Orleans on Tuesday and then resumes on Friday in Detroit. The team returns home on Saturday for the first matchup of the season against the Boston Celtics.

The Atlanta Hawks can't dwell on their loss to the Houston Rockets long as their road trip continues in New Orleans on Tuesday.

The Atlanta Hawks are moving on quickly from Monday's 123-104 loss to the Houston Rockets as their road trip continues in New Orleans on Tuesday. Although disappointed with the loss, Atlanta was quick to credit Houston who have proven to be a difficult matchup for the Hawks.

"I have to give credit where credit is due. This team is very hard for us to match up against. The fact is that they do such a phenomenal job off the dribble. We have a hard time defending this team off the dribble. They have four guys the starting lineup that can all make 3s, are all good coming off the dribble."

Defending the three-point line was the death blow for Atlanta as Houston hit 16-29 including 6-8 off the bench for Carlos Delfino. Combine that with unsuccessfully trying to keep James Harden off the free throw line where he was 12-13 and the Hawks were playing catchup for virtually the entire night.

Atlanta actually started the game well and took a 27-26 lead at the end of the first quarter. Things came apart in the second as a barrage of threes put the Hawks in a deep hole. The Rockets outscored Atlanta 38-19 in the second quarter including a 16-0 run that was fueled by four straight three-point baskets by Houston. Compounding things Atlanta shot just 29 percent in the quarter and went from one up to 18 points down at the half.

"We just had a hard time stopping them," Kyle Korver said. "We tried a few different things on defense but they score a lot of points in transition and we didn't get back well enough. They shot the ball extremely well. They made a lot of 3s and stretched us out and the pick-and-roll is even harder to guard. We just gave up too many things."

The Hawks were able to make runs at the Rockets in the second half but those usually ended with another Rockets' three-pointer. Atlanta's reserves led by rookie John Jenkins actually cut the lead to just five points midway through the fourth quarter before Houston's Delfino buried a three and converted a break away layup to stymie the run.

Lou Williams led the Hawks with 21 points and lost for the first time since being inserted into the starting lineup. Al Horford got off to a great start and turned in a solid all-around night with 18 points, 13 rebounds and four assists. Josh Smith returned to action from injury and added 17 points and seven rebounds. All three players sat the entire fourth quarter.

The Hawks are happy to get out of Houston where they have won just twice in the last 21 years. The road trip continues on Tuesday in New Orleans against the Hornets.

The Atlanta Hawks saw their four-game winning streak snapped at the hands of the Houston Rockets with a 123-104 loss.

Atlanta's four-game winning streak went down in a barrage of three-pointers by the Houston Rockets Monday night. The Rockets hit 16-29 from beyond-the-arc on their way to a 123-104 win. James Harden scored a game-high 28 points but it was Carlos Delfino's 22 off the bench including six threes that dealt the Hawks the most critical blow.

Atlanta took a 27-26 lead after one behind a strong start from Al Horford. Houston took control in the second outscoring the Hawks 38-19. Atlanta would battle back in the second half but the run usually ended with another Rockets' three-pointer. The Hawks were able to whittle the lead down to just five late in the fourth quarter before Delfino answered with a three and a break away layup that ended the rally.

Lou Williams led the way for the Hawks with 21 points on 9-16 shooting. It was the first loss for Atlanta with Williams in the starting lineup. Al Horford turned his good start into a solid night with 18 points, 13 rebounds and four assists. Josh Smith added 17 while rookie John Jenkins added a career-high 15 off the bench.

Harden's 28 came on 7-17 shooting and 12-13 from the free throw line. As a team the Rockets were 17-22 from the charity stripe while the Hawks were just 6-7. Delfino's 22 points came on 8-10 shooting including 6-8 from deep. Jeremy Lin added 16 points and eight assists while Omer Asik recorded a double-double 11 points and 17 rebounds.

Atlanta won't get much time to think about this loss as they are right back at it tomorrow night when they take on the New Orleans Hornets.

Josh Smith will return to the Hawks's starting lineup tonight as Atlanta tries to extend their four-game winning streak against the Houston Rockets.

The Atlanta Hawks will get Josh Smith back in their starting lineup in time for Monday's matchup against the Houston Rockets. Smith sat out Saturday's win over Indiana with a strained hip flexor.
The Atlanta Hawks look to avenge a loss on opening night when they take on Jeremy Lin, James Harden and the Houston Rockets.

The Atlanta Hawks have won four straight games and pulled to within a game of first place in the Eastern Conference. If the winning streak is going to reach five games the Hawks will have to win in a place that they haven't had much success historically. A win by the Hawks on Monday would be just the third in the last 21 years for Atlanta playing in Houston.

Perhaps this time they are catching the Rockets at a good time as Houston has lost two straight and surrendered at least 120 points in two straight games for the first time since 1995. The Rockets dealt Atlanta a 109-102 loss on opening night while James Harden went off for 45 points. Atlanta has tighten the screws defensively since the opener so it will be interesting to see how things play out in the rematch.

The Hawks will be without guards Devin Harris and Anthony Morrow who didn't make the trip due to injury. Morrow will miss his second straight game with a strained hip. Harris has missed the last six contests with a foot injury. Both are listed as day-to-day and could join the team later in the road trip.

The Atlanta Hawks will be without two key players against the Houston Rockets as Anthony Morrow and Devin Harris stayed behind in Atlanta with injuries.

Devin Harris and Anthony Morrow won't play for the Hawks against the Houston Rockets on Monday after both stayed behind in Atlanta nursing injuries. Morrow will miss his second straight game after sustaining a hip strain on Friday in Cleveland. Harris has missed the last six games with a strained foot. Both players continue to be listed as day-to-day and both could join the team at some point during the three-game road trip.

The good news for Atlanta is that Josh Smith did travel with the team and could return to the lineup in time for Monday's game. Smith suffered a strained hip flexor in Friday's game against the Cavaliers. He missed the entire fourth quarter against the Cavs and sat out Saturday's win over the Pacers.

With Morrow and Harris back in Atlanta there is a good chance that rookie John Jenkins remains in the rotation particularly given that Larry Drew has been reluctant to use DeShawn Stevenson in back-to-back games. Jenkins played just under 17 minutes against the Pacers and scored a career-high 10 points.
