Despite being cleared for full contact work, it looks like the Atlanta Hawks will be without both Anthony Morrow and Devin Harris for tonight's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Atlanta Hawks may have to wait a few more days to get their full compliment of players back. Anthony Morrow has been declared out by head coach Larry Drew and Devin Harris is listed as doubtful for tonight's game in Minnesota according to the AJC's Chris Vivlamore.

Morrow and Harris were cleared on Monday for full contact but Larry Drew wanted to see how both players responded before declaring their status for tonight's game. The Hawks play again on Wednesday in Cleveland but it is uncertain as to whether of them could return against the Cavs.

Also according to Vivlamore the Hawks will go with the same starting lineup with Jeff Teague and Lou Williams in the backcourt, Kyle Korver and Josh Smith at the forwards along with Al Horford at the center position.

The Timberwolves have their own injury concerns after losing Kevin Love again to a broken hand. The T-Wolves could get Ricky Rubio back in the lineup in time for tonight's game but Nikola Pekovic is questionable after missing practice on Monday with a hip injury.

Devin Harris and Anthony Morrow took a step closer to getting back on the court as they were cleared for contact on Monday and will travel with the club to Minnesota.

Devin Harris and Anthony Morrow will travel with the Atlanta Hawks to Minnesota and both could return to action during the two-game trip. Both players were cleared for contact on Monday and Larry Drew told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he would see how both players responded to Monday's workout before determining their status for Tuesday's game.

Harris has missed the last 10 games with a foot injury. Lou Williams has assumed the backup point guard responsibilities but getting Harris back will be a shot in the arm for the rotation and give Drew another option at the point. Morrow has missed the last five games with a hip injury that he suffered against the Cleveland Cavaliers on December 28.

The absence of Harris and Morrow provided an opportunity for playing time for first-round pick John Jenkins who saw consistent minutes for the first time this season. Drew vowed to find a way to get Jenkins more minutes even after Harris and Morrow return but how he goes about that remains to be seen.

Atlanta is on a two-game losing streak and the additions of Harris and Morrow should provide a shot in the arm for the club.

Hawks guard Devin Harris remains out with a foot injury and there is still no timetable for when he might be able to return to the court.

Atlanta Hawks guard Devin Harris will miss his 10th straight game tonight because of a foot injury. Harris suffered the injury back on December 18 against the Washington Wizards. Lou Williams has operated as the back up point guard behind Jeff Teague while Harris has been out.

The news isn't much better for Anthony Morrow who is listed as doubtful for tonight's game against the Celtics with a hip injury. The absence of Harris and Morrow has left the Hawks a little thin in the backcourt but has provided the opportunity for playing time for rookie John Jenkins.

The Hawks had two days off after playing a back-to-back with Houston (loss) and New Orleans (win) so they returned to Atlanta to practice in preparation of yet another road-home back-to-back as they go to Detroit tomorrow and will come back to face Boston on Saturday.

The Hawks took to the practice court today but were missing a number of players due to injury. Al Horford sat out with a hip injury, but is not expected to have any problems playing. Devin Harris is out with the same foot injury that has kept him sidelined for the past couple weeks, but may travel with the team to Detroit although it is unlikely that he will play. Anthony Morrow (hip) and Johan Petro (stomach virus) both sat out and neither will travel with the team and their status for Saturday's game is uncertain.

Despite being short-handed, the Hawks went back and ran through some sets, added in some new wrinkles off of in-bounds plays (their specialty), and worked on things they did well (and tried to fix things they didn't do well) in their first meeting with the Pistons that went to double overtime.

After practice, Larry Drew addressed the allocation of minutes over this back-to-back stretch, and the lineups we can expect seeing, first, discussing Jenkins playing time.

"Well one thing that has worked out, I don't want to say in a good way or a bad way, we've been injured. Morrow's been out and we've been a little short-handed on the perimeter with Devin being out and it's opened up playing opportunities for [Jenkins] and he's made the most of it. He's really come in and opened my eyes. He's a guy that can make shots and, very similar to Kyle Korver, when he's out there you have to pay attention to him. The other thing about him is his athleticism is underestimated. I liked what I saw in New Orleans when he was matched up with Gordon."

As for the starting lineup, Drew says he will continue going with this group as long as they're hot, no matter who is available.

"I'm going to stay with what works. That's been working for us [The smaller lineup with Lou] and you know, a couple of games I thought about going back to the bigger lineup, but sometimes you gotta roll the dice a little bit and try to force the opposition to try to adjust to us. He's been good in our lineup and I'm going to keep it that way...Lou plays big, if you don't take advantage of him on the one end, you better be ready for him on the other end."

As for Zaza and Ivan, Drew said they could see more extended playing time due to the injuries, most importantly Al, on the front-line.

"Very possibly [Zaza could see more minutes], it just depends on how Al does. Al has been banged up, and Petro will not be on the trip, so there could potentially be more minutes for Zaza. I didn't play Ivan the last game, he'll certainly be playing some minutes in these next couple games."

Drew was asked about his Coach of the Month honors, and, jokingly, if he felt on the hot seat after what happened to the last coach of the month, Avery Johnson.

"No, I don't feel like I'm on the hot seat (laughs). I'm very honored to be chosen as Eastern Conference Coach of the Month. I'm just proud the guys were able to have the month they had, and hopefully we can have a better month this January."

The Hawks flew out at 3 PM to Detroit and they will be looking to get their second win over the Pistons this year, and hopefully this time they won't need two overtimes to do it.

Larry Drew said before Monday's game that Anthony Morrow and Devin Harris were both out until at least Saturday when the team returned home from its road trip

Anthony Morrow and Devin Harris will have their statuses updated on Saturday when the Hawks return from their three-game road trip. Morrow missed his second straight game on Monday with a strained hip that he suffered in Friday's win in Cleveland. Harris missed his seventh straight contest with a foot injury.

"We won't know how long [they will be out] until we get back [to Atlanta]," Drew said. "We're still just treating both guys."

Their absence has given rookie John Jenkins the opportunity to get into Drew's rotation. Jenkins scored 10 points in just under 17 minutes of action in Saturday's win over the Indiana Pacers. He set a career-high in minutes played on Monday with 24 and also set a career mark with 15 points on 6-9 shooting. With Jeff Teague and Lou Williams starting, Jenkins was the first guard off the bench on Monday.

Harris has played in 20 games this season and made 10 starts. He is averaging 7.7 points and 2.5 assists per game in about 23 minutes per game. Morrow has appeared in 22 games and is averaging 5.5 points on 44 percent shooting.

Atlanta's road trip continues in New Orleans on Tuesday and then resumes on Friday in Detroit. The team returns home on Saturday for the first matchup of the season against the Boston Celtics.

The Atlanta Hawks will be without two key players against the Houston Rockets as Anthony Morrow and Devin Harris stayed behind in Atlanta with injuries.

Devin Harris and Anthony Morrow won't play for the Hawks against the Houston Rockets on Monday after both stayed behind in Atlanta nursing injuries. Morrow will miss his second straight game after sustaining a hip strain on Friday in Cleveland. Harris has missed the last six games with a strained foot. Both players continue to be listed as day-to-day and both could join the team at some point during the three-game road trip.

The good news for Atlanta is that Josh Smith did travel with the team and could return to the lineup in time for Monday's game. Smith suffered a strained hip flexor in Friday's game against the Cavaliers. He missed the entire fourth quarter against the Cavs and sat out Saturday's win over the Pacers.

With Morrow and Harris back in Atlanta there is a good chance that rookie John Jenkins remains in the rotation particularly given that Larry Drew has been reluctant to use DeShawn Stevenson in back-to-back games. Jenkins played just under 17 minutes against the Pacers and scored a career-high 10 points.

Hawks guard Devin Harris sat out Thursday's practice and his status is in doubt for Friday's game in Cleveland.

Devin Harris sat out his fourth consecutive game on Wednesday with a foot injury and his status is in doubt for Friday's game against Cleveland. Harris didn't take part in the Hawks' practice on Thursday and Larry Drew indicated that he wasn't sure whether or not he would travel with the club for Friday's game against the Cavaliers.

Harris suffered the injury during the first half of Atlanta's win over the Wizards back on December 18. Harris got some shots up during yesterday's shootaround and was a game-time decision for last night's game against the Pistons. Atlanta has gone 2-2 without Harris in the lineup.

Harris has appeared in 20 games with the Hawks this season and has made 10 starts. He is averaging 7.7 points and 2.5 assists in about 23 minutes per game. Harris scored a season-high 20 points on December 13 against the Charlotte Bobcats.

Hawks coach Larry Drew will be faced with the decision on whether or not to return Harris to the starting lineup once he is healthy enough to return. Lou Williams has started each of the last two games for the Hawks after not starting a game since the 2009 season.
