This post was updated Aug. 4 to reflect changes to the roster that was initially released.
The Atlanta Hawks’ Summer League roster appears to be rounding into to shape ahead of all the action, which starts this weekend when the Hawks take on the Boston Celtics. Cam Reddish will not be on the roster after the initial word following the Eastern Conference Finals was that he would be heading to Las Vegas. Reddish missed most of his second season with Achilles soreness, but did return and play well during the Eastern Conference Finals series vs. the Milwaukee Bucks. There’s been no known reason given to why Reddish is no longer participating, perhaps one will be provided in the near future.
Both of the Hawks’ 2021 draft picks, Jalen Johnson (No. 20 overall) and Sharife Cooper (No. 48 overall) will indeed be on the roster, however. Cooper and Johnson could operate as primary players during Summer League action, along with Skylar Mays, whom the Hawks offered a qualifying offer ahead of free agency. The extension of the QO makes Mays a restricted free agent, leaving Atlanta in a good position to retain him.
Here’s a look at the full Summer League roster, though keep in mind Summer League roster’s can be rather fluid:
- Jalen Johnson
- Sharife Cooper
- Skylar Mays
- Jeremiah Martin
- Justin Jaworski
- Ibi Watson
- Max Heidegger
- DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell
- Admiral Schofield
- Nahziah Carter
- Eric Moreland
- Juwan Durham
- Javin DeLaurier
Hawks assistant coach Matt Hill will be the Summer League coach.
Summer League will take place in Las Vegas from Aug. 8-17. The Hawks play their first game Sunday at 4 pm ET vs. the Boston Celtics on NBA TV. For a look at Atlanta’s full Summer League schedule, click here.
