An MRI taken earlier today at the Emory Sports Medicine Complex revealed a bone bruise to Trae Young’s right foot. He will be listed as questionable for tomorrow’s Eastern Conference Finals Game 4. pic.twitter.com/xijP0z25G8
Young left Game 3 on Sunday after appearing to step on the foot of an official near the sideline late in the third quarter. After going to the locker room, he returned to play during the fourth quarter. Upon returning, he appeared to be favoring the right foot/ankle area, limiting his burst. He scored just three points after returning, and did not finish the game after exiting late in the fourth.
Young is averaging 29.8 points and 9.5 assists this postseason, shooting 42.7% from the floor and 32.6% from three-point range. He has carried a large load of Atlanta’s offense, helping fuel the Hawks on one of the best postseason runs in franchise history, leading the club to their first Eastern Conference Finals victory since moving to Atlanta behind a 48-point, 11-assist performance in Game 1 of the series.
Needless to say, if Young is unable to go in Game 4, it could spell bad news for Atlanta. The Hawks will look to even the series at 2-2 on Tuesday night, while the status of Young for Game 4 may not be known until closer to tip-off.
Stay tuned.
