The Atlanta Hawks (19-20) are on a five-game win streak and looking for six when the face the reeling Houston Rockets (11-26) Tuesday evening. The Rockets have lost 16 straight games, with their last win coming Feb. 4 over the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Hawks will look to get back to .500, and for their sixth straight win under interim coach Nate McMillan. Atlanta swept a home back-to-back over the weekend with wins over the Sacramento Kings and Cleveland Cavaliers.
Houston is 27th in the NBA with a -5.8 rating, and will be without several key contributors Tuesday evening. This is another extremely winnable game for Atlanta, who continues their effort to climb the Eastern Conference standings. Considering the names they are missing at the moment, the situation in Houston is even worse than the numbers suggest.
The Hawks rank 10th in league with a +1.0 net mark after a pair of comfortable wins over the weekend. Atlanta now ranks 10th in offensive rating and 22nd on the defensive end.
The Hawks sit as the No. 8 seed heading into the contest, still just two games behind the No. 4 seed, Southeast Division leading Miami Heat.
Injuries
The Hawks will again be without De’Andre Hunter, Kris Dunn and Cam Reddish Tuesday, while Clint Capela (left heel pain) and Onyeka Okongwu (right adductor soreness) are questionable. Nathan Knight filled in valiantly in place of the two absent centers Sunday evening.
For the Rockets, the injury report is somewhat of a disaster. John Wall, Eric Gordon, P.J. Tucker, David Nwaba, Rodions Kurucs and Dante Exum are out. Danuel House and Ben McLemore are questionable, while Christian Wood is doubtful.
The Line
Atlanta is a 7.5-point favorite in Houston as of early Tuesday morning. With Victor Oladipo being the only significant contributor currently scheduled to play, the men in the desert are not optimistic about the Rockets chances of breaking their 16-game losing streak vs. the Hawks this evening.
