Preview: Hawks look to stop skid against Raptors

NBA: Atlanta Hawks at Toronto Raptors Nick Turchiaro-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Hawks (10-12) will host the Toronto Raptors (9-12) on Saturday evening in what will be their fourth home game of the week. It has not been a pleasant week so far for the Hawks who are 0-3 on the homestand with losses to the Lakers, Mavericks and Jazz.

Atlanta and Toronto started the season on opposite ends of the spectrum, with the Hawks going 4-1 in their first five, while the Raptors we well under .500 until a recent stretch where they have played much better as a unit.

Toronto is 6-4 over their past 10 games, while Atlanta is 5-5, and both teams are fighting for playoff positioning, even this early in the season. The Hawks are currently the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference, while the Raptors are tenth.

The Raptors actually edge out Atlanta in net rating, where they rank 11th (+1.6), while the Hawks rank 13th (+0.6). Over the last 10 games, however, Toronto has a +4.3 net rating while the Hawks are at just +0.5.

The Hawks will have the rest advantage, with Toronto playing the Nets in Brooklyn on Friday evening. Another huge factor in this game is obviously the status of Atlanta’s roster health, with starters Trae Young and De’Andre Hunter being unavailable for Thursday’s contest vs. Utah.

Young is listed as questionable for Saturday’s contest with a right calf contusion, while Hunter is again out with a knee issue. Kevin Huerter is probable (left ankle soreness), while Onyeka Okongwu is questionable with left Achilles soreness. Bogdan Bogdanovic and Kris Dunn remain out for Atlanta.

For the Raptors, OG Anunoby missed his fourth straight game on Friday evening. Toronto’s injury report for Saturday’s game is not yet available given the nature of the back-to-back.
