Preview: Hawks visit Blazers to close back-to-back set

UPDATE: The Atlanta Hawks announced their official injury report on Saturday afternoon. Trae Young (back tightness) is listed as probable for the game against the Portland Trail Blazers. Cam Reddish (left knee contusion) is listed as questionable.

The Atlanta Hawks suffered a lopsided defeat on Friday evening, falling at the hands of the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City. Just 24 hours later, the Hawks face another significant challenge with a visit to Portland to take on the Trail Blazers on short rest.

Portland will be adapting to a new reality in this game, after starting center Jusuf Nurkic suffered a fractured wrist earlier this week. That absence, in conjunction with the injury to Zach Collins, leaves the Blazers short-handed on the interior, though the backcourt duo of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum could make life difficult for Atlanta.

On the Hawks side, the official injury report is not due until later in the afternoon on Saturday, simply due to the back-to-back and the location of the game. However, Atlanta will definitely be missing Bogdan Bogdanovic, Danilo Gallinari and Kris Dunn, with the rest of the injury report worth monitoring as the day continues.

The Hawks will enter Saturday’s game as the betting underdog, especially given that Portland is on regular rest. Atlanta is certainly capable of winning on the road in this spot, but the Hawks must be leaps and bounds better offensively than they were on Friday, even to simply have a chance to be competitive.

Stay tuned throughout the day for all the latest.
