The second “half” of the 2019-20 season has been kind to the Atlanta Hawks thus far, with Lloyd Pierce’s team picking up back-to-back victories. The team’s last outing was a comeback victory over Dallas and, in follow-up, the Hawks will hit the road on Monday evening with a challenging match-up on deck in Philadelphia.
The Hawks and Sixers split the first two meetings this season, both coming in Atlanta, and Philadelphia is famously a much different team at home (26-2 record) than they are on the road (9-20). On the surface, that could spell danger for the Hawks, but the home team won’t be at full strength in this match-up.
Philadelphia will be without Ben Simmons (back) and, as of Monday morning, it appears that the 76ers are likely to be without Tobias Harris (knee) as well. Harris is formally listed as doubtful but, in the event that both do not play, the Sixers will be without two key contributors. On the flip side, the Hawks are edging closer to full strength, with De’Andre Hunter off the injury report after missing Saturday’s game, leaving only Clint Capela, Skal Labissiere and DeAndre’ Bembry out of action.
There is some point spread uncertainty at the time of this post, though the expectation is that the Hawks will be substantial underdogs on the road. Atlanta can draw from competitive experiences against Philadelphia in the past, though, and this is a different team than it was earlier in the season.
