The Atlanta Hawks are being well represented in Chicago on All-Star weekend by standout point guard Trae Young. Young helped Team USA grab a win in the NBA Rising Stars game, and the second-year star will debut in the All-Star Game as a starter on Sunday evening.
Before the “main event” on Sunday, Young was tasked with trying to bring home his first title in the MTN DEW 3-Point Contest.
The competition was stiff as Young was matched up against the best shooters in the NBA. Young was the first contestant of the night and chose to place his “money-ball” rack at the last spot around the arc.
Young started out slowly and had not finished his ball rack at the top of the key with just 30 seconds remaining. He really was forced to rush to the last rack, where he started with under eight seconds to go and couldn’t get off any fluid shots.
As a result, Young ended up being bounced from the contest in the first round.

Young was joined in first-round elimination by Duncan Robinson, Zach LaVine, Devonte Graham and defending champion Joe Harris. The trio that advanced to the final was Devin Booker, Davis Bertans and Buddy Hield, with Hield taking home the glory.
Hield beat Booker by one point in the final round, edging out the Suns star on the final shot.

Atlanta’s star guard will set his eyes to the big game in prime time on Sunday after a tough draw in the 3-Point contest.
Stay tuned.
