2019 NBA Summer League Game 1: Hawks vs. Bucks

Update: Jaylen Adams (sore toe) and Charlie Brown Jr (sore hip) are out today for the Hawks.

After almost three months of dead time (at least from an on-court perspective), the Atlanta Hawks will be participating in an NBA-sanctioned basketball game on Saturday evening. Las Vegas is the venue for the festivities over the next ten days and, in the team’s Summer League opener, the Milwaukee Bucks will be in opposition.

Atlanta’s roster (which could be found here in total) is in flux at the time of this post, with uncertainty surrounding the status of De’Andre Hunter and Bruno Fernando. Both rookies won’t technically be on the Hawks’ roster until trades are completed (the league’s moratorium concludes at noon ET on Saturday) and, as such, it is possible that neither could play in the opener.

With that out of the way, Omari Spellman, Jaylen Adams and Charlie Brown are scheduled to appear, with the entire trio slated for regular season roles as the roster is currently constructed. Spellman would qualify as the headliner in a world that doesn’t include Hunter and Fernando and, regardless, it will be intriguing to see how the second-year big man fares in this setting.

On the Milwaukee side, the Bucks will be led by a familiar face in former Hawks assistant coach Darvin Ham and some interesting names. At this moment, it isn’t entirely clear which players Milwaukee will elect to deploy but D.J. Wilson, Sterling Brown, Bonzie Colson and a few interesting non-roster invites like Daulton Hommes, Luke Maye, and Fletcher Magee are on the team’s roster.

Stay tuned throughout the day for all the latest and be encouraged to utilize the comments below as a “game thread” for the action.
