2019 NBA Summer League Game 4: Hawks vs. Wizards

UPDATE: De’Andre Hunter is OUT again on Thursday with a sore knee. He remains day-to-day.

The Atlanta Hawks picked up a victory on Tuesday, zooming past the Indiana Pacers in NBA Summer League action. On Thursday, Greg Foster and his team will be back on the court for the final pre-scheduled contest of the week and the Washington Wizards will be on the opposing bench.

No. 4 pick De’Andre Hunter missed Atlanta’s win with what was described as a sore knee and, as such, his status is up in the air for this particular game. Hawks assistant coach Matt Hill said the ailment was not considered serious and Hunter is listed as day-to-day. Still, it wouldn’t be shocking if the former Virginia star took a place on the bench alongside several top 2019 draftees, even if that would be less an ideal from a fan interest perspective.

Hunter will be grabbing top billing whether he plays or not, but the Hawks do have interesting pieces to showcase, headlined by Bruno Fernando and Charlie Brown. Fernando inked a three-year deal in Atlanta, signaling significant investment by the team, and Brown came out firing in his Summer League debut on Tuesday.

Following Thursday’s action (win or lose), the Hawks will be assigned to a consolation game, allowing the team to finish off a five-game slate in the desert. Tip-off time for that one is unknown as this point but, at the very least, we know that Atlanta’s fourth game won’t be its last.

Stay tuned throughout the day for all the latest and, as always, we encourage you to use the comments below as a “game thread” for today’s contest.
