Update: John Collins is listed as doubtful for Monday’s game, with Taurean Prince remaining out. Vince Carter, Dewayne Dedmon, Alex Len and Kevin Huerter are all listed as probable.
The Atlanta Hawks picked up a “revenge” win on Sunday afternoon, outlasting the Chicago Bulls despite the controversial ejection of Trae Young. While that win should improve the mood around the team, the Hawks face a tough turnaround on Monday evening, as the team travels from the Midwest to South Florida to square off with the Miami Heat.
After a rough patch in February, the Heat have operated at a high level in recent days. Erik Spoelstra’s team knocked off the Golden State Warriors last week and, while the team did drop a close loss to the Rockets in Houston, Miami came back and throttled the Brooklyn Nets over the weekend.
Beyond that, the Heat will be at a rest advantage in this spot, with Miami’s last game taking place on Saturday and Atlanta encountering a back-to-back. The Hawks are also short-handed at the moment, with John Collins missing Sunday’s game with flu-like symptoms, Omari Spellman facing a lengthy absence, and Taurean Prince recently away from the team for personal reasons.
As a result, the good folks in Las Vegas see Miami as the favorite in this game, pegging the Hawks as 7.5-point underdogs as of Monday morning. On the injury front, it will be interesting to see if Collins can return in this game and, for the Heat, both Goran Dragic and Hassan Whiteside are listed as questionable.
Stay tuned for more throughout the day.
