The Atlanta Hawks snapped a losing streak and Kevin Huerter broke out of a mini-slump on Sunday evening, as player and team came together to knock off the New Orleans Pelicans. Following two days of rest (and practice), the Hawks are back in action on Wednesday evening and another match-up with a Western Conference opponent awaits in the form of the Memphis Grizzlies.
After all kinds of struggles this season, the Grizzlies are actually playing improved basketball in recent days. In fact, Memphis enters on the strength of four wins in their last five games and two of those victories came against playoff-bound teams in Utah and Portland.
It should be noted that the Hawks are still one-point favorites according to the good folks in Las Vegas, as the benefit of full rest and home-court advantage play a significant part. Memphis will be without Jaren Jackson Jr., Kyle Anderson and Dillon Brooks in this contest but, in the same breath, that trio has been out of action for quite some time. On the Atlanta side, Omari Spellman, Miles Plumlee and Alex Poythress will be unavailable but, otherwise, the Hawks have a clean injury report for the first time in a while.
In the only other match-up between the two teams this season, the Grizzlies held serve with a 131-117 victory at home. With that said, that game took place in mid-October and, to put it bluntly, a lot has changed on both sides. Fun should be had by all on Wednesday evening, however, and this profiles as a close-fought battle.
