In mid-July, the Atlanta Hawks pulled off a high-profile trade involving Dennis Schröder, Mike Muscala and Carmelo Anthony. Even before the deal was finalized, it was common knowledge that the Hawks and Anthony would be working on a buyout and, after a (very) brief marriage, Atlanta formally parted ways with the future Hall of Fame forward by placing him on waivers.
However, Anthony made it known that he wanted a jersey from the Hawks to commemorate his time with the organization and, on Thursday, the organization passed along a gift.
Hey @carmeloanthony your jersey is on it’s way...good luck, fam! pic.twitter.com/Yzh04ZUzSp

As usual, this was an instance of the Hawks’ social media team coming through in a big way and, later, the best basketball player on the planet decided to “congratulate” his close, personal friend on the accomplishment.
Helleva run in the A my brother @carmeloanthony! ♂️

It isn’t every day that LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and the Hawks can be tied together in this form and fun was had by all. Anthony will be taking his talents to Houston for the 2018-19 season and, even if his time in Atlanta was comically short, he’ll always have a jersey with his number and name prominently displayed.
Oh, and speaking of that number, can we talk about former Hawks All-Star Al Horford?
Okay, maybe that’s for another day.
Stay tuned.
