For the rest of NBA Summer League, the Atlanta Hawks will be operating without John Collins but, for the second half of Sunday’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers, the team will also be without Trae Young. The No. 5 overall pick appeared for only nine minutes in the first half and, during the halftime break, the Hawks announced that Young would be sidelined for the remainder of the day with a right quad contusion.
It remains to be seen as to whether this will affect Young’s future availability in Las Vegas, though it does not appear to be a serious injury. Prior to his exit, Young went 0 of 2 from the floor (and from three) while generating three assists and the Hawks have a day off on Monday before resuming play on Tuesday.
Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available, including any stated timetable for return.
