2018 NBA Summer League Game 4: Hawks vs. Knicks

Let’s get things started in Vegas.

Mercifully, Utah Summer League is in the books. Things didn’t go particularly well for the Atlanta Hawks in Salt Lake City, as the team lost all three games in rather lopsided fashion and 2018 lottery pick Trae Young scuffled from a shooting perspective. Fortunately, Saturday brings a fresh start and it comes in the form of a game against the New York Knicks.

This particular contest doubles as Atlanta’s first game in Las Vegas Summer League, where the team is guaranteed five games over the next week-plus. Three games are already scheduled (with at least two more coming in tournament form) and the first match-up involves two recent lottery picks from New York.

Frank Ntilikina will likely face off with Young on a frequent basis during the game and, while the soon-to-be sophomore guard isn’t an offensive force, he brings length and defensive acumen that could bother Atlanta’s rookie guard. In addition, the Knicks boast 2018 lottery pick Kevin Knox, who could make things interesting for the Hawks in the frontcourt.

At this juncture, it is assumed that the Hawks will have their entire Summer League roster available here, and that means the return of John Collins after a one-game hiatus. It remains to be seen as to just how involved he will be in Vegas but, if nothing else, Atlanta’s fan base will get more of a look at Young, Tyler Dorsey, Omari Spellman, Antonius Cleveland and others and the bright lights of Sin City are now involved.

Stay tuned throughout the day (and the entire summer) for all the latest and feel free to use the comment section below as the “game thread” for this evening’s festivities. As always, be cordial to one another and let’s enjoy some basketball.
