2018 NBA Summer League Game 2: Hawks vs. Spurs preview

Round two.

NCAA Basketball: Final Four Championship Game-Michigan vs Villanova Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Hawks dropped their Summer League opener to Jaren Jackson Jr. and the Memphis Grizzlies, largely due to inefficient shooting across the board. Fortunately, the team has only a 24-hour turnaround before its next contest, as the San Antonio Spurs await for Atlanta’s second game in Salt Lake City.

The Spurs also struggled mightily in their opener, with 2018 first round pick Lonnie Walker shooting 3 of 16 from the field (sound familiar?) and the team-wide offense scuffling. San Antonio does bring an interesting “veteran” to the table in second-year guard Derrick White (who produced 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the opener) but the Hawks appear to have more NBA-level talent on display and that often matters.

On Atlanta’s side, it will be interesting to see how the youngsters respond, particularly on the heels of Trae Young’s rough shooting night. There were plenty of positives from the first game, including 40 three-point attempts, but the altitude also seemed to present issues and conditioning could come into play here.

Stay tuned throughout the day for all the latest and here is the information you need to follow the action live.
