2018 NBA Summer League Game 9: Hawks vs. Clippers

One more in Vegas.

NBA: Summer League-Atlanta Hawks at Portland Trail Blazers Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

Seconds after the Atlanta Hawks completed a Summer League game on Thursday evening, the team pulled off a trade for Jeremy Lin. That forward-facing maneuver took quite a bit of attention away from the proceedings in Las Vegas but the Hawks fell to the Portland Trail Blazers and, as such, were eliminated from the pursuit of a Summer League title.

Still, the Hawks have one more game in the desert before coming back to Atlanta, as the team will face off with the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday evening. In Thursday’s game, the Hawks were without Trae Young (rest), John Collins (rest), Tyler Dorsey (groin) and Jaylen Adams (ankle). While there is no firm update at the time of this post, it would be legitimately stunning if Collins took the floor and, based on past precedent, it would be a mild surprise if all of the players absent from Thursday returned for the finale.

Atlanta will, however, deploy a roster in this spot and Omari Spellman enjoyed the increased offensive attention on Thursday evening. Others like Antonius Cleveland, Jaylen Morris, Robert Johnson and, of course, Junior Robinson are scheduled to appear and, if nothing else, we can enjoy the last public display of basketball from the Atlanta Hawks until training camp opens later this fall.

Stay tuned throughout the day and be cordial to one another in the comments.
