Greg Foster reportedly set to join Atlanta Hawks coaching staff

Perhaps the final member of Lloyd Pierce’s staff

NBA: Atlanta Hawks at Orlando Magic Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

Last week, word broke that former Orlando Magic assistant Matt Hill was set to join the Atlanta Hawks, working under the direction of Lloyd Pierce. Now, that reporting has been confirmed by Marc Spears of ESPN’s The Undefeated and, beyond that, he brings a new name to the table in the form of Greg Foster.

Foster worked alongside Pierce in Philadelphia during the 2013-2014 season and, since then, the retired NBA center has been working on the staff of the Milwaukee Bucks. As a player, Foster appeared in 656 games across more than a decade of service, including a 33-game stint with the Hawks during the 1992-1993 season.

In addition, Foster reportedly interviewed for the head coaching vacancy at his alma mater, UTEP, in March. He leaves the staff in Milwaukee after the previous regime was ousted in favor of Mike Budenholzer and a staff that will reportedly include Darvin Ham, Taylor Jenkins, Charles Lee and others. At this point, Atlanta’s staff reportedly includes Melvin Hunt (lead assistant), Marlon Garnett, Chris Jent, Matt Hill and Greg Foster.

Stay tuned.
