It’s early but the handicapping world weighs in.

Even with amid mixed opinions surrounding Trae Young’s NBA future, the consensus on the Atlanta Hawks point guard reflects incredible offensive upside. With that in mind, the good folks at Bovada.lv have released opening betting odds for the 2018-19 NBA Rookie of the Year award and Young is treated favorably.

The former Oklahoma star begins as the fourth-leading candidate for the award with 7-to-1 odds and Young trailing only Suns center Deandre Ayton, Kings big man Marvin Bagley and Mavericks draftee Luka Doncic in the pecking order. Given the amount of offensive opportunity available for Young (if Dennis Schroder is traded before training camp), it is easy to see him putting up considerable counting statistics and, in the end, that is a big part of Rookie of the Year consideration.

It might take time for Young to come into his own offensively but, in the minds of the off-shore handicapping world, he has a decent chance to “pop” in his first professional season.

Below are the full ROY odds, via Bovada.
