Atlanta Hawks select Omari Spellman with No. 30 pick in 2018 NBA Draft

More offense at No. 30.

NCAA Basketball: Final Four Championship Game-Michigan vs Villanova Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Trae Young and Kevin Huerter are already on board and, with the No. 30 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Atlanta Hawks elected to add Villanova big man Omari Spellman to the mix.

In keeping with a theme of the night, Spellman is an offense-first player that is a plus shooter in the frontcourt. He is one of the best shooters in the class from a player of his size and, at 6’9 with a 7’2 wingspan, Spellman has the tools to be a very interesting player.

However, there are certainly defensive questions with Spellman’s game and that will be the pivot point for his NBA career. Still, the Hawks clearly entered the evening with floor spacing and offensive potency on the mind and general manager Travis Schlenk certainly exceeded that particular goal with flying colors.

Stay tuned as more information, including the team’s No. 34 pick, becomes available.
