Per a report from the Orlando Sentinel’s Josh Robbins, the Magic have cleared out their entire assistant coaching staff under Frank Vogel to give incoming head coach Steve Clifford the chance to fill out his own bench, which has come to the Hawks’ benefit, as assistant coach Matt Hill will make the move up I-75 to Atlanta to take a similar position on Lloyd Pierce’s staff.
Matt Hill, the lone assistant coach retained by the Magic from Frank Vogel's staff, will join the Atlanta Hawks as an assistant coach. Hill got his start with the Magic in 2012 as a video analyst in the basketball operations department.

Hill is a younger name in coaching circles, having joined the Magic just one year after finishing his college career at the University of Texas as a video analyst in 2012 before being promoted to assistant coach this past season. Hill served under four different head coaches in six years in Orlando and, as Robbins reports, was the lone assistant left from the Vogel era left in the Magic organization before today.
This will bring the fourth member to Pierce’s assistant crew after the hiring of Melvin Hunt and Marlon Garnett and the retention of Chris Jent from Mike Budenholzer’s staff.
