Atlanta Hawks guard Tyler Dorsey enjoyed an encouraging rookie season in the NBA but, over Memorial Day weekend, the 22-year-old was reportedly involved in an incident that produced charges in Eugene, Oregon.

KVAL 13 in Eugene brings word of misdemeanor charges of DUII (Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants), Driving without Lights, and Open Container. The alleged incident took place early Saturday morning in the town in which Dorsey attended the University of Oregon.

The report also indicates the following from a police report:

“The vehicle came to a rolling stop, and then rolled forward again before coming to a complete stop. Upon speaking with Dorsey, the officer suspected impairment. There was an open container of alcohol on the passenger side floorboard. After an investigation, Dorsey was charged with DUII, Driving without Lights, and Open Container.”

Zach Klein of WSB-TV initially brought word that the Hawks are aware of the incident and, later, the team officially released the following statement.

“We are aware of the situation involving Tyler Dorsey that occurred this past weekend in Eugene, Oregon. We are still gathering information as it pertains to the situation, and out of respect for the legal process, we will have no further comment at this time.”

Stay tuned as more information becomes available.
