UPDATE: Morris’ injury timetable has been announced by the Hawks. He will be sidelined for two to four weeks.

According to Michael Cunningham of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Hawks rookie Jaylen Morris will miss around two weeks after suffering a left ankle sprain in Sunday’s loss to the Chicago Bulls.

Jaylen Morris, a Molloy College product, had been playing well for the Hawks before going down hard on defense against the Chicago Bulls on Sunday. Morris was signed to his first 10-day contract after a solid 40 games with Atlanta’s G-League team the Erie Bayhawks. Morris had just signed his second 10-day contract and was seemingly on his way to getting a contract for the rest of this season.

It is unknown if the Hawks intend to re-sign Morris to a rest of season contract once he returns from injury.

Morris, in six games with the Hawks, has posted nearly five points per game, three rebounds per game and an assist per game averaging 16 minutes of action. He has shown a good feel for defense and his 6’5” frame allows him to be a pest while guarding point guards, shooting guards or even small forwards.

Stay tuned for updates on this situation as it progresses.
