DeAndre’ Bembry has been out of the Atlanta Hawks lineup with injury but, on Friday morning, the second-year swingman made his way into the news for less than ideal reasons. Lauren Foreman of the AJC brings word that Bembry, who is currently sidelined with a left adductor strain, was reportedly arrested at approximately 12:20 am ET on Feb. 9.

The reported charges for the No. 21 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft include reckless driving and speeding and Donald Hannah of the APD is quoted as saying Bembry was placed under arrest without incident. According to the report, Bembry was cited for driving 128 miles per hour (in a purple Dodge Charger) on a stretch of road that had a listed 55 miles per hour speed limit.

The Hawks released the following statement on Friday morning:

“We are aware of an incident involving DeAndre’ Bembry earlier this morning. We are still gathering information as it pertains to the situation, and out of respect for the legal process, we will have no further comment at this time.”

Stay tuned.
