After six consecutive losses, the Atlanta Hawks will be fighting an uphill battle on Saturday evening, as the team takes on the Indiana Pacers in unfriendly territory. However, there was a bit of good news for Atlanta on Friday afternoon, as the team officially upgraded standout big man John Collins to probable for the final game of the road trip.
Of course, Collins does not cure all ills for the Hawks, as the team is struggling in a number of areas. With that said, the 2017 first round pick is, rather easily, Atlanta’s most talented big man and best athlete, providing a much needed boost to the lineup.
While Collins appears to be on track for a return, Taurean Prince is listed as doubtful for the game with Achilles soreness, after missing Thursday’s contest in Denver. That particular game was not kind to Atlanta but, on the flip side, the likely debut of Collins and the schedule return of Dewayne Dedmon (back with the team after the birth of his child) should provide a bit of optimism.
The Hawks have dropped 10 of 11 games and, according to the good folks in Las Vegas, are double-digit underdogs against the Pacers here. That isn’t a surprise but, if Atlanta can produce a motivated effort on the heels of a disastrous showing in Denver, a more competitive situation should present itself.
Holding Victor Oladipo and company in check won’t be easy for the visiting team but, if nothing else, we’ll be here throughout the day for all the latest. Stay tuned.
