North Carolina's Justin Jackson on Friday
Vanderbilt's Luke Kornet on Thursday.
Jackson isn’t the only projected first round pick to reportedly visit Atlanta but his presence is quite interesting. Some mock drafts have projected that Jackson could be available when the Hawks pick at No. 19 overall and, while he may be off the board by then, the fit could be a snug one.
The lengthy forward presents intriguing defensive upside and that was on full display as North Carolina made its run to the NCAA Championship. Beyond that, Jackson’s shooting stroke would be a nice addition to a wing rotation that could use the spacing upgrade. With that said, he is an older prospect with a relatively low ceiling and that could pose a roadblock depending on what Travis Schlenk and company are prioritizing.
In addition to Jackson, Chris Vivlamore reports that Vanderbilt big man Luke Kornet will be in town on Thursday. At this juncture, the 7-footer would seem to be in play only for the No. 60 overall pick but he presents a combination of size and shooting touch that a coach like Mike Budenholzer could value and utilize.
More draft workout information will likely become available in the coming weeks but the Hawks will reportedly be gathering more information on Justin Jackson.
