Per a report from David Aldridge, the Phoenix Suns are expected to meet with Atlanta Hawks free agent power forward Paul Millsap and make him a large offer in free agency. Their first choice was Clippers’ free agent Blake Griffin, but Griffin agreed to re-sign with Los Angeles earlier tonight on a max contract over five years.
Now that Blake Griffin is going back to Clippers, expect Phoenix to go hard for Paul Millsap. They're fans.

Millsap now has one fewer competitor on the board for teams’ money without losing any potential suitors, as Los Angeles could not have offered Millsap the same max contract they gave to Griffin. Phoenix, after being spurned by LaMarcus Aldridge in free agency two years ago, have been looking for a veteran power forward to take their young core to the next level. Millsap doesn’t quite fit the Suns’ timeline and they already have multiple players at his position, but that hasn’t deterred Phoenix general manager Ryan McDonough from consistently pursuing him.
Paul Millsap will almost certainly command a max contract from a team out there, whether it’s the Suns, Denver Nuggets, or the option to stay in Atlanta. No team has grabbed the reins in the Millsap sweepstakes yet, as several teams will have meetings with him this weekend.
