Reporting from ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne indicates that Paul Millsap will meet with the Phoenix Suns on Saturday, the first day of free agency, to discuss the possibility of pairing Millsap with their young core. He will be a free agent this summer after opting out of the final year of a three-year contract he signed in 2015.
Sounds like Suns have big weekend plans. Also meeting w/ Millsap. https://t.co/nxfooS5KYU— Ramona Shelburne (@ramonashelburne) June 29, 2017
This report comes on the heels of Brian Windhorst reporting on a podcast that he doesn’t expect to see Millsap re-sign in Atlanta. Windhorst mentioned Phoenix as a strong suitor in his comments but this is the first report that solidifies that the Suns will get a meeting with the 32-year-old big man.
The fit in Phoenix is a little unclear, as they spent two lottery picks last season on Dragan Bender and Marquese Chriss, both of whom also play the power forward position, but the Suns seem to be in the market for somebody to play that position, as they’ll also meet with Blake Griffin over the weekend.
