UPDATE: The Hawks have officially waived Dunleavy.

Atlanta Hawks swingman Mike Dunleavy Jr. looks set to be waived by the Atlanta Hawks, according to Chris Vivlamore of the AJC.

Dunleavy’s salary of $5,175,000 was to become fully guaranteed on July 1st but the Hawks, seemingly unable to find a trade partner, will waive the veteran swingman before that happens. However, it’s worth mentioning that $1,662,500 of that $5,175,000 was guaranteed no matter what the Hawks did, but Atlanta waiving Dunleavy lets them off the hook for the remaining $3,512,500.
It is unclear at this moment in time if the Hawks will either stretch that $1,662,500 over a three year period or simply take the cap hit this season. Dunleavy himself will now hit the free agency market.
Dunleavy was acquired from the Cleveland Cavaliers in the January 7th trade that sent Hawks swingman Kyle Korver to Cleveland in exchange for Dunleavy, Mo Williams and a future first round pick.
Dunleavy averaged 5.6 points per game and shot 42.9% from three-point territory in his brief time with the Hawks.
