The Hawks have the No. 19 pick in the first round of the upcoming NBA draft and, depending upon free agency decisions, could need to add depth at the center position moving forward. Allen is appearing a high as late lottery pick in some places and as low as the mid-twenties in most mock drafts.
The athletic big man started slowly during his freshman season with a disappointing Longhorns team. But, in time, Allen flashed impressive mobility and competence as a rim runner and in the pick and roll action.
Allen is not a shooter and he did not make a single 3-pointer during his college play and shot only 57.9% at the free throw line. With that said, he possess some raw skills that could be intriguing especially when considering that he played his entire freshman season at the age of 18.
