The 2017 NBA Draft is just 10 days away and the Atlanta Hawks are one of the more intriguing teams outside of the lottery. That comes with the territory when the team has two picks (No. 19 and No. 31) in relatively close range but the Hawks continue to work players out in an effort to gather information.
On Monday, Chris Vivlamore of the AJC reported that Atlanta’s workout list included the likes of SMU forward Semi Ojeleye, Baylor big man Johnathan Motley and Oregon big man Jordan Bell.
Others to work out for Hawks today: Jon Motley, Jordan Bell, London Perentes, Semi Ojeleye and Damyean Dotson.— Chris Vivlamore (@CVivlamoreAJC) June 12, 2017
While Ojeleye, Bell and Motley could be in the mix for the Hawks at either No. 19 or No. 31, Virginia guard London Perrantes and Houston swingman Damyean Dotson might be fodder for the No. 60 pick and/or Atlanta’s Summer League squad.
Ojeleye is a personal favorite in that he can space the floor while also guarding multiple positions and switching effectively. Bell is arguably the most polished defensive prospect in the draft and could have value at No. 31, while Motley is a highly productive college player that would provide frontcourt depth sooner rather than later.
It should be noted that Chris Vivlamore of the AJC also brings word that adding a big man with the No. 19 pick seems to be the team’s favored scenario. Stay tuned.
