The Atlanta Hawks are scheduled to meet with Chauncey Billups this week to discuss the team’s vacant GM position according to a report by ESPN.com’s Chris Haynes.
Per the report, the meeting is expected to take place on Tuesday in Los Angeles. The report also suggests that the Hawks are not looking to drag out the hiring process with the Draft scheduled to take place next month.
Billups has no front office experience but is regarded as a student of the game and has expressed interest in the past at running his own team.
ESPN’s Marc Stein previously reported that the Hawks had previously interviewed Washington Wizards president of basketball operations Tommy Sheppard and Golden State Warriors assistant general manager Travis Schlenk.
Atlanta underwent a front office shakeup following a 43-39 season and a first round exit from the NBA Playoffs. Mike Budenholzer had the president title removed while former general manager Wes Wilcox was reassigned to an advisor for ownership.
