Video: Dennis Schroder reacts to benching against Warriors

Schroder said that he didn’t understand his coach’s decision.

Dennis Schroder played just over three minutes in the second half of Monday’s loss to the Golden State Warriors despite scoring 23 points in the first half. Schroder was benched by Mike Budenholzer following an on court argument with center Dwight Howard. Schroder told reporters after the game that he wanted to meet with Budenholzer and Howard to discuss the benching.

Budenholzer told reporters after the game that the benching was a “coaching decision” and that they needed to learn to stay together for a full 48 minutes.

It was obvious that everyone including Schroder and Dwight Howard were ready to put this incident behind them following the game. Will be interesting to see if they can do that.

Schroder’s argument with Howard came after a bad outlet pass turnover. The two were exchanging words while the Warriors inbounded to Steph Curry who promptly knocked down a three-pointer.

Atlanta hosts the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. It will be interesting to see if there is any further fallout from this incident.
