The Atlanta Hawks look to snap a five-game losing streak and sweep the season series when they take on the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night. Friday’s game will mark the end of a three-game road trip for Atlanta. The Hawks have lost eight of their last eleven games and are in danger of dropping out of fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Atlanta will be without forward Paul Millsap for the fourth straight game on Friday. Millsap was a late scratch from the lineup in Saturday’s loss to the Portland Trail Blazers due to stiffness in his left knee. He didn’t travel with the team for the first two stops of the trip and was officially declared out on Thursday. Losing Millsap has been a tough pill to swallow for the Hawks who are 0-6 this season without him in the lineup this season.
Atlanta will also be without guard Kent Bazemore who remains sidelined with a bone bruise in his knee.
The Hawks put up an encouraging effort on Wednesday before late turnovers sealed their fate in a 104-100 loss to the Washington Wizards. Tim Hardaway Jr led the way with 29 points but Dennis Schroder turned the ball over 10 times as Atlanta faltered late.
Milwaukee comes into the game surging having won two straight and eight of their last 10. The Bucks knocked off Sacramento 116-98 behind 32 points and 13 rebounds from Giannis Antetokounmpo. That win pulled them into a tie for sixth place in the Eastern Conference with the Indiana Pacers.
Atlanta enters Friday’s game 5.5 games behind fourth place Toronto but just one game ahead of Milwaukee and Indiana. The Hawks hold the tie breaker advantage over the Bucks by virtue of their 3-0 lead in the season series between the two clubs.
