The Atlanta Hawks have been bitten hard by the injury bug and will be without a pair of key players when they begin a three-game road trip this week.
The team announced on Sunday that Paul Millsap would miss the next two games due to what is being described as tightness in his left knee. Millsap was a late scratch to Saturday’s game and won’t play in Monday’s game at Charlotte or in Wednesday’s game at Washington.
Kent Bazemore will be out even longer. Bazemore suffered a knee injury in Saturday’s loss to Portland with 5:27 remaining in the fourth quarter. Bazemore left the game and didn’t return and the Hawks were hopeful after the game that the injury wouldn’t require him to miss any additional time.
However, that won’t be the case after an examination this morning revealed a bone bruise in Bazemore’s right knee. He will be treated and reevaluated over the next 7-10 days and his status will be updated as appropriate. He will not travel on the Hawks’ upcoming road trip.
Update
The Hawks have recalled DeAndre Bembry from the Salt Lake City Stars of the NBA D-League. He will be in uniform for Atlanta Monday night when they take on the Hornets.
