Hawks head to San Antonio to face banged up Spurs

Atlanta travels to San Antonio on Monday looking to score its first win ever at the AT&T Center.

You have to go all the way back to 1997 to find the last time the Atlanta Hawks won a regular season game in San Antonio. However, they may be catching the Spurs at a perfect time to pull an upset on Monday night.

Atlanta has won three straight games and will face a San Antonio team who could be missing several key players. The Spurs defeated a resting Golden State team on Saturday despite being without four players including starters Tony Parker, LaMarcus Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard.

Leonard is listed as questionable for Monday’s game and could be cleared in time to play. Parker and Dejounte Murray along with Aldridge have all been ruled out.

It sounds like Parker and Murray could return soon but the situation is less clear with Aldridge who is out with minor heart arrhythmia and there is no timetable for his return.

Even without several of their key players, at 51-14 the Spurs won’t be an easy out no matter who suits up to play.

The Hawks are once again trending upward having won three-straight after back-to-back wins against the Raptors and the Grizzlies. Atlanta defeated Memphis 107-90 on Saturday behind a career-best 17 points from Taurean Prince.

The Hawks won the first meeting between the two teams 114-112 in overtime back on New Year’s Day. Atlanta has never won a regular season game at the AT&T Center.
