The Atlanta Hawks weren’t able to continue their winning streak on Friday evening in Toronto but there will be no rest for the weary. Mike Budenholzer’s team will play host to a Portland Trail Blazers team that had Friday off and, even with the benefit of a friendly atmosphere at Philips Arena, this is an interesting test.
To make things even more intriguing, the Blazers and Hawks will complete their entire season series within a single week. Portland and Atlanta will face off again on Friday in Oregon but, before then, the Hawks will be charged with slowing the dynamic duo of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum.
It should be noted, though, that Lillard has missed three straight and, if he was unable to go, that would level the playing field considerably. Atlanta’s trip home from Toronto leaves things in a weird place and, even if Portland is at less than full strength, the Blazers are a team with an impressive 18-16 mark in the Western Conference and this is one of the few nights in which the Hawks do not have a defined coaching edge given the presence of Terry Stotts.
Saturday night basketball from Philips Arena is never a bad thing and that continues here. Stay tuned throughout the day for all the latest.
