Ersan Ilyasova has played just four games this season for the Atlanta Hawks and it looks like he’ll continue to be out over the weekend, when the Hawks will make visits to Detroit and Washington:
Budenholzer says Ilyasova (knee) likely won't make trip to DET & WAS.— Michael Cunningham (@MCunninghamAJC) November 8, 2017
Ilyasova suffered a bone bruise in late October and was given a 1-2 week timetable at the time of the injury, but the Hawks have every reason to bring him back slowly and ensure that his knee is fully recovered before putting him back in the rotation.
The injury one of many for Atlanta this season, as DeAndre’ Bembry and Miles Plumlee still remain out indefinitely with a fractured wrist and strained quadricep, respectively. Mike Muscala, Ilyasova’s replacement in the starting lineup, was injured himself and didn’t play in the team’s back-to-back against Cleveland and Boston earlier this week. If Muscala can’t go against Detroit on Friday, Luke Babbitt will likely get his third start of the season.
The Hawks play in New Orleans on Monday night, which looks to be the target for Ilyasova’s return at this time.
