The Atlanta Hawks will return home to finish up the preseason beginning on Monday but, before that happens, the team is in Detroit to take on the Pistons. Unlike the first two preseason contests, this game will (sadly) not be televised locally or nationally and, well, that takes away some of the luster.
Still, the Hawks are expected to have DeAndre’ Bembry on the floor for the first time this season (he is officially listed by the team as probable) and that brings some intrigue to the table. The second-year wing suffered a triceps injury before training camp but, if he is indeed able to return here, Bembry will be ahead of schedule in encouraging fashion.
Elsewhere, all eyes will be on John Collins, who was forced to leave Wednesday’s game with a shoulder strain. The Hawks have absolutely no reason to push the rookie at this point but, considering he was not listed on the official injury report, it appears to be a go against the Pistons.
Finally, Miles Plumlee (quad) will miss his second straight game. At any rate, the Hawks will be back in Atlanta soon but let’s enjoy some basketball on a Friday night... even if by proxy.
Stay tuned throughout the day for all the latest.
