The Atlanta Hawks sit at 1-3 after four road games to open the 2017-2018 NBA season and, on Thursday, the team (finally) completes its lengthy road trip. This time, John Collins and company are in Chicago to take on the Bulls.
Many believe that Chicago is the worst team in the NBA and one of the team’s better players, forward Nikola Mirotic, will miss the game as a result of an ugly practice scuffle with fellow forward Bobby Portis. Still, the Bulls are playing at home in this spot and the absence of Mirotic does not outweigh the presumed absence of Dennis Schröder, DeAndre’ Bembry and several others on the Hawks side.
This is, of course, a prime opportunity for the Hawks to grab a win, though, and the team faces a looming back-to-back set against Paul Millsap and a scary Denver Nuggets team at home on Friday. Can Atlanta knock off Chicago without Schröder in the lineup? Perhaps, but there will be a great need for his backcourt mates to step up in this spot, even as the Bulls are arguably the NBA team with the worst full-time point guard situation.
At this early juncture, the Bulls are seen as slight favorites, both in Las Vegas and according to most projection systems, but anything can happen when tip-off occurs.
Stay tuned throughout the day for all the latest.
