We’ve come to the end of the line in the preseason and fans across the NBA are (very) excited for the exhibition slate to finish and the regular season schedule to commence. Before that happens, though, the Atlanta Hawks are in action at Georgia Tech’s McCamish Pavilion on Thursday night and it is something of a preview.

That is because the Dallas Mavericks are in town and they double as Atlanta’s opponent for the regular season opener. Because of that (and simple logistics), it would be aggressive to assume that the Hawks will deploy a “normal” rotation and, in short, we probably saw that in a win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday.

Still, there is plenty to be gleaned from one more preseason tilt and it could be an opportunity to see some of the young guys on full display. If nothing else, it is basketball to watch to wet the appetite of the regular season and that is a lot of fun.
