Hawks at Pelicans Preview: Atlanta Looks for Fifth Straight

After last night’s victory in Orlando, the Hawks will play tonight in New Orleans

NBA: New Orleans Pelicans at Atlanta Hawks Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

After last night’s victory in Orlando, the Hawks move to New Orleans tonight trying to win both sides of the back-to-back and secure a fifth straight victory. The Pelicans won the first meeting between these two teams by a score of 112-94, destroying Atlanta in Philips Arena back in November.

The Pelicans have had a somewhat disappointing season so far, and are currently 14-22. While their most recent game was a loss (to Cleveland), the team had won four games in a row before that setback. Even though New Orleans is eight games below .500, the team is not far out of a playoff spot in the West.

Despite an up and down season, the Hawks are currently in fifth place in the East at 19-16. They are just two back of the third seeded Celtics but are only four games better than the 12th place Magic.

In last night’s victory, multiple Hawks scored in double digits, and it will be interesting to see if this continues. Kent Bazemore and Malcolm Delaney, in particular, played well, and their scoring could be a huge boost on the second night of a back-to-back.
