76ers vs. Hawks preview: Philly arrives as Atlanta aims to complete sweep of back-to-back

The Hawks host the Sixers on Saturday and Philly will be without its best player.

NBA: Philadelphia 76ers at Atlanta Hawks Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Hawks nearly imploded on Friday night but, in the end, the team was able to grab a victory against the Chicago Bulls. With that said, there is very little in the way of rest for the weary, as the Hawks play host to the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday at Philips Arena.

Philadelphia arrives in the midst of their best stretch of basketball in years, as the Sixers have won six of seven games. However, talented big man Joel Embiid did not make the trip for the Sixers on the second night of a back-to-back, leaving Atlanta as a firm favorite for the proceedings.

With that said, the Sixers have improved vastly even beyond Embiid and Atlanta’s second/third unit struggled in the second half on Friday. The Hawks enter this particular contest as 9.5-point favorites at home, shining some light on expectations, but Atlanta cannot fully sleep-walk if they want to claim a second consecutive win.

Paul Millsap and Dwight Howard could have their hands full with Jahlil Okafor and Nerlens Noel, while the backcourt advantage is a significant one for the home team. Regardless, it should be a fun Saturday evening at the arena and we’ll bring you updates throughout the day. Stay tuned.
